defective toshiba digital camera? |
|
|
hello.
I am about to purchase a second hand toshiba pdr-m71 digital camera. all is
well with it except for the LCD screen which 90% of the time is all black
and white. (menus, viewfinder, pictures, everything) there are no other
problems with the camera besides this, and the pictures/movies come out in
good and okay colors despiting showing most of the time b&w on the lcd
screen.
before I pick this up, could someone comment on my chances of fixing this,
what the problem may be, could it get more serious (maybe lcd disappearing
altogether)... I don't mind the b&w color, I just don't want to be a sign
and a start of other more serious problems. I am paying $50US for this
camera. because of the defect, I hope you'll find just like me that this is
a decent price for this quality of camera.
any input on this would be appreciated.
thanks.

Run from this deal!
The cost of repair from the factory is almost the same as buying the camera
new.

hmmm
geez, this is some news your telling me.
I am closer to buyin this than I am to my own mother.
now... let me just run that by you again... the camera is fully functional
but only with the LCD apparently runing in black/white and not color. and I
just read on google that this can happen when there is not enough light
around.. though I do not think the person was silly enough not to test it in
bright daylight.
but anyway.. am I to conclude from your comment that a b/w lcd is a signe
of something gone terribly wrong or a sign of problems ahead?
let me just clarify, I do not mind/care about lcd running b/w, and will
never ever try to repair it. I just do not want it to be an indication of
another problem which could make surface when I buy the cam.
this is still a great cam I think. and at $50 with this tiny defect, I
think its a steal. well, almost a steal.
no?
:)

I doubt anyone can tell you for sure whetther the way the camera works now will be the
same in a month or a year. If you are a gmabler, you might take the risk. |

I understand.
unless your name is nostradamus, you prolly cannot predict if a fully
functional camera will work in X months from now.
however, I was hoping that to say whether a camera with this specific defect
has better chances of failing me shortly. I suppose all I'm trying to find
out at the root of it all is what may be causing this problem. maybe from
this I can draw my own conclusions as to whether this problem could spread
to other parts. etc.
thank you for your comments. |
