Is there any software out there to use a regular scanner as a scanner for
mark sense cards for multiple choice exams?

Not the answer you'd like I suppose, but I've looked for that kind of
software and found nothing on the free/shareware side, while getting the
impression that this kind of software is very specialized and expensive.

Besides this - from a quick search, I found this thread
http://techrepublic.com.com/5208-6239-0.html?forumID=52&threadID=98798

The first reply specifies clearly that the cited software works with a
"normal" scanner. Don't know about the software cited in the second reply.

Thanks. Yes, I wonder how hard it is to code reliable software for this.
