Does anyone know where I can get an XP driver for this camera?
Logitech QuickCam Pro (with Beige focus ring) Logitech does not make an XP
driver for it. Any help would be appreciated.

Is it a USB camera? If so, I am surprised XP didn't pick it up by |
itself. My ancient Intel 'Ezycam' is picked up and installed by XP
without any drivers from Intel, which is just as well as Intel haven't
supported the cam in years! |

That link made interesting reading newsW. |
Considering the price of webcams these days, it seems like to much
effort to try to find drivers for old cams (for OS's that didn't exist
when the cam was released).
The only reason I keep the Ezycam is that it works without any, but I
only use it for things like Eyeball Chat, not for capturing images . For
that I have a CCTV camera connected to TV/Capture card.
I suppose that it really depends on what you want to use it for, but
personally,I don't think I could be bothered trying to find drivers for
a product that even the manufacturer is not supporting. Lost cause. |

kim,
Have you ever tried using your cctv camera as a webcam? If so what were the
results?

It can be done.
Go to the qcuiag email web site and search their archives or join the group
and ask.
They use a lot of these old camera's on their telescopes with xp.
I'm not sure of the ring thing on your cam, but I have an old black and
white.
They told me how, but I forgot. I think it was using some drivers and
changing a file word from usb to parallel port.
If you ask nicely and explain your problem exactly they will help out.

"as a webcam"..I assume you mean for something like Netmeeting? If so |
yes when the capture card was in my main computer I tried it out. The
results were as you would expect from a camera with a CCD sensor. Image
was nice and clear. Both Netmeeting and Eyeball Chat gave me the option
of what camera I wanted to use..Intel USB or Context Capture.
The capture card is now in it's own old (PII 300Mhz) computer, and the
sole purpose of it is to upload an image to web every 10 seconds. All it
has on it is the capture card software and Conquercam. Sorry, but I
can't point you to a website showing it as it's current 'project' of
monitoring a couple of large ground dwelling birds that had decided to
lay their eggs in the front yard is over as the eggs hatched last
weekend and the birds have gone.
Here in Australia a CCD 'webcam' such as Quickcam 4000 Pro would set you
back between $240 and $299 (depending where you bought it), so I opted
for this camera as it had more features, including IR capabilites with
18 inbuilt IR leds, plus it has a C/CS lens mount so I can change the
lens from it's standard to anything I like from Fisheye, Wide Angle,
Telephoto, "Vari-Focal", Auto-Iris, (although the last two would cost
more than the camera itself!), etc and it was a hell of a lot cheaper if
you shopped around with prices ranging from $165 to $249.
The cameras image quality is equal to any colour CCTV camera I have seen
in places like shops, service stations, etc. The IR images are what you
would expect also..bit on the grainy side, but as I have said, that is
to be expected, especially at a distance.
