Agreed that it looks like a good program but upon using it I get the
error message:

No activated CD writer could be found.

In five years of burning I've never had this error message, and I
realize
it could be minor. Doesn't seem to want to fix itself. It shows the
device list, I select my burner and it doesn't work properly. I did
just have a bad finalization of a burn so I should probably reboot
my machine.

Check out if the burner is supported (and read the comment at bottom):
http://www.feurio.com/English/cd_writer.shtml

If the burner is listed, install ASPI 4.60 with ForceASPI 1.7 from a
link given here (as Feurio requires ASPI:
http://aspi.radified.com/

For laughs:

Let's see if Adaptec programmers are able to programm this

Subject: EzCD 4 and CD-TEXT

Adrian Miller (Acraptec) splattered:
Quote:

Is there something I have to do to get my Ez CD Creator 4.02
to burn CD-TEXT format disks?

I looked on the Adaptec web site, and my CD burner (Mitsumi 4804)
is listed as supporting CD-TEXT, bur the option is grayed out in
the Ez CD dialog box.

I have the same issue. Mitsumi 4804 Drive and a wish to use the
CD text feature.

Howcome we always get bit like this???? I bought the 4804 on advice
of another burner program that said Mitsumi was well supported, now
it turns out there are _two_ CD text modes, and EZCD won't support
this kind of CD text. Grrrrrrrrrrr

Three actually. There is the original Sony method, the method that
Ricoh and Plextor use

The "original" sony mode and the ricoh / plextor mode are not really
different; only some bytes in the cue-sheet are different - the
sector-data are exact the same.

Actual sony-writers use the same mode as ricoh / plextor-writers -
this is also descripted in the Multimedia-Commandset.

Quote:
and now it appears that Mitsumi have ignored both of those and
done something completely different.

Yes - I can tell you what do to: You have to simple write the whole cd
in RAW Mode with FULL subchannels (Subchannels p to w, 2448 Bytes per
sector) and encode cd-text data in the subchannels of the leadin).

Let's see if adaptecs programmers are able to programm this :-;

(Still not fixed one year later.)

I just wanted to go on record with what I mean here. Being a software
developer
for 12 years, I can see that when I use Windows, there are features
that they
take away with each new release, that makes me have to do more key
strokes,
hence using up my time more. For example, if I click on a disk drive,
I used
to be able to see the size of it on the bottom of my screen. In XP,
that feature
was taken away. I'm not sure if in XP professional it is there, but
it's not in my
home version.

I saw a similar thing with publisher, where the Print Preview was
simply
taken out of a release, for no good reason.

They also put stuff in which is harder to remove, or to make operate
the way you want, or just plain causes more trouble than before. I am
now quite happy with XP, but when it first launched I could have
screamed.
