Making CD-R compatible |
|
|
How do I get these confusing programs to make a multisession cd that can
be written to on various computers until it is FULL?? I tried iso9660
format 1 with filenames 8.3 and the cd-r can be READ but cannot be
written to to complete the storage space. First computer burned trying
both nero burning rom 6. 3. 125 AND easy cd recorder 6. 1.1.48. Next
computer was unable to write to cd-r to complete it using BC (sony i
think) software. Disk appears full under Explorer, yet I know it only
has a few MB of data on it. CD-R drive on second computer is a 52X cd
drive. These sh*t programs are never compatible with each other. |

What are the exact full names for: "easy cd recorder" and "BC" ? |

I would assume the programs would be compatible, but have never read
anywhere that they should be.
Window explorer doesn't report my cd-r's correctly for free space, my
software (RecordNow) does.

Re: Making CD-R compatible |

Thanks for both replies. Here is the software I am trying to find a
compatible option on. The first set of programs I write to the cd-r,
then when I take the cd disk home the next set of programs cannot add
anything to the disk.
Write with (tried both) tried to use iso9660 options with 8.3 file
names: nero burning rom 6. 3. 125 and roxio easy cd recorder 6. 1.1.48
Neither of the above required formating unless it was done unknowingly
on the fly.
Then tried unsuccessfully to add files using: BSGold 5.2.7.0 also using
iso9660 mode 1. Program gives error message cannot write to disk;
explorer properties show disk is full, when, in fact, it only has a few
MB on it. When I return to programs above, no problem, I can complete
the disk.
How can I get these programs to use the same cd-r disk??? What am I
doing wrong?
I thought iso9660 with all files conforming to 8.3 character spec was
supposedly compatible. Drive is Sony CD-RW CRX225E
Manuals do not give the answer. I also have the UDF based BClip.exe but
have not used it yet.

EZCD 5 can't correctly import multisession tracks made by other

=========================
From: Alkampfer

in the disc info it says that there's free space and a single

This happens on two different PCs with four different cd and dvd

It's no surprise you have trouble with cRoxio Easy CD Cremator. (See
the other post for why.) It's a surprise, however, there's an
incompatibility with B's Gold unless the first session was made by Easy
CD Mangler. For example, the following combinations are compatible:
Nero, NTI CD Maker, RecordNow, CDRWin.
Try again with the first session burned with Nero and see if B's Gold
still balks.

Thank you smh. I was hoping that wasn't the problem, but knowing the
OTHER problems I've had with Roxio software, I have no doubt you are
correct. I will try ur suggestion of using Nero on next burn, but if
memory serves, when I burned using BC Gold, Nero gave an error message
when I tried to add a session. I'm really beginning to think all the
cd-burner programs suck basically. Maybe I'll look for a freeware
cd-burner, they are usually better.

The Nero 'error' message is not an error message, but a warning that
the previous sesession was not burned by Nero. (Nero gives the same
warning even when continuing a session made by Nero itself with 'No

Double check you burn in Track-at-once (TAO) and 'Finalize CD'
