Hi,

I intend to get some 2nd hand U320 disks which come in 80pins (SCA2) format.
Will there be any difference in performance if I see 80pin-68pin converter
with these disks, when compared to a 68pin disk (assuming same model)? Any
known problems with using such converters?

I see different types of converters on the internet. Are there different
types of converters between the different SCSI formats (eg. U2W vs U160 vs
U320)?

Any advice is much appreciated. Thank you.

Thanks and Regards,
AK

AK,

I have a couple each hanging on an Adaptec 19160 U160 controller. HDtach
results suggest no difference in performance with the adapters. Which
adapter you need will depend on the DRIVES interface (LVD vs. SE). See this
site for an example : http://www.hypermicro.com/dept.asp?dept_id=11-002
