I've had no luck getting
a gift Mustek MFS-12000SP
SCSI color flatbed scanner
working under Win2K with
my motherboard's built-in
Adaptec AIC-7880 SCSI
interface. Win2K says the
driver would not install
and kvetches about a #31
error. Does anyone have
any experience with this
-- is it one of those
gawdawful products that
will only work with its
mfr.-supplied SCSI card?
Three other SCSI devices,
including an ancient b&w
HP ScanJet IIp work fine
via the motherboard's
SCSI interface.

no , it's about drivers and mustek is worse in this ! there can be found
workarounds in the www .

Danke, Wolfgang -- if you
have any hints about where
to find viable Win2K
drivers and/or workarounds
for this model, I'd
certainly be grateful for
your help.

Jan. 27, 2002, size 51,011, Version 2.0.0.1

also

5.00.2195.1 (in Driver
Details)

It seems to complete the
physical scan, but then
there's a great deal of
hard disk activity and
the thing eventually
stops responding before
the image can be saved
to a file.

Btw, I would do this via
e-mail instead of on the
NG, but your ISP doesn't
accept anything from
<juno.com> addresses.
:-(

Thanks again for your
help -- I'd hate to
trash the scanner on
account of a driver
problem!

actually i don't have any of this musteks working anymore ( i got fed up
) , the driver you have is VERY new and i doubt , that it's the right
one . if you are interested i can send you a twain32 install-package
with about 1,5mb to try .

in general it depends on sooo many things if our machines work . so
maybe the driver you use could work too if there wouldn't be other
errors - what about this possibility ? did you ever examine your hard-
and softwaresettings and terminate all mistakes ?

about e-mail :

though there aren't too many interested posters - maybe one day one will
find this thread helpful :-)

The only thing I can think
of is that the Mustek
itself is faulty -- the
system works perfectly
with my even older b&w HP
ScanJet IIp which is in the
same SCSI chain with the
Mustek (and is providing
the external termination).
When I boot with the HP
powered-up and Mustek off,
the HP functions just as it
did when it was the only
external SCSI device.

Never had to -- I figure if
one SCSI scanner works 100%
then, given proper cabling
and termination, I should
be able to add another.
Naive, eh? :-)

Yes, that's what makes Google
Groups such a treasure trove
of techno-esoterica! I very
much appreciate your help,
Wolfgang -- if I give up on
this thing, it won't be for
lack of trying!
