SCSI problem with scanner, Mac G5 |
|
|
Have been having a problem hooking up my Flextight Photo scanner to a
new dual processor Mac G5 running OS X. I am running Flexcolor 4.0 and
using an Adaptec 29160 card in the PCI-X slot. The card is recommended
by Imacon. Have downloaded two different drivers from Adaptec. The
scanner is connected to the card with a 50-68 pin brand new SCSI cable.
The problem is that the computer recognizes the card, but as soon as I
turn on the scanner, the card disappears from the system profile. With
one driver, the card disappears when the scanner is hooked up to the
card. With the other driver, the card does not disappear until the
scanner is turned on. The scanner is the only SCSI device on the
system. The scanner is terminated and we have tried several device
numbers, but nothing works.
Any ideas? |

Are those unused 18 pins properly terminated?
Indeed, does your scanner include termination for the other 50 pins?
Is your cable longer than a couple of metres?
BTW You don't have "device numbers" but "device ID's". Normally a SCSI
card is set as device ID=7 - so don't use that. Use a number in the
range 0-6.
Check that you have configured your setup for LUN=0 (it's not
applicable).
There's quite a few other things...
