Convert Backpack CDROM to hard drive? |
|
|
I picked up a MicroSolutions Backpack 194200
USB 2.0 CD-RW drive.
I have no use for another CD-RW, but I do have use
for a USB hard drive.
I'd like to put a removable drive socket in it and
slam big hard drives in and out for backups.
I tried the obvious, putting in an ide hard drive.
Nothing....the drivers are supposed to be in the same
driver package as the CD-RW drivers, but Win XP
doesn't recognize plugging in the usb plug.
There's a clue in the Backpack HD info that you might
have to format the drives in the Backpack. That won't work
for me 'cause I wanna stuff 'em back into the main IDE port too.
Is there a way to make this work?
How?
Thanks, mike
