Minimum LVD Cable Length? |
|
|
I'm building a very small form factor machine and will have an 18GB
Seagate 15K.3 boot/system/application drive, and a Samsung 160GB
SpinPoint EIDE data drive. The controller will be the LSILogic LSIU160
Ultra160 since there will be no other drives on the controller The
case I am using is small, so any extra material, including cable
length, will get in the way.
So here's my question....can I make a cable to order from let's say,
Granite Digital that is perhaps, 8" long? Will there be any problems
with that? |

No, there is no minimum cable length for SCSI.

Depends where terminator is located, only minimum requirement exists
regarding location of the terminator from the last connector on the cable...
You can find that somewhere on Paralan's page...

I've succeeded in getting
solid LVD signalling with
a cable only about 12"
long -- and no minimum
cable length is in the
specs afaik. I just cut
down an LVD cable to the
last two connectors and
the terminator with a
razor blade, inspected
the sliced end for stray
strands with a magnifier,
plugged in, and rocked
with no problems at all.
