using xp-pro, adp. 29160 card with fujitsu lv 10k 160 drive, on a
supermicro p4spe board. 550 mg file copied to a different partiton,
18/m/s. whole system transfered (about 5 gigs), to external drive,
average rate about 30/m/s. This just seem to me incrediably slow. Whats
wrong here, if anything, and how do I fix it.

10K drives aren't necessarily fast, especially older models.
