I consider changing my SCSI-controller Dawicontrol DC2980 U2W with LSI-chip
53c895 with an Adaptec 2940U2W. But I'm afraid my hdd, that is patitioned
and formatted with the DC2980, will not be recognized by the Adaptec, so
I'll have to re-partition and re-format the hdd, then re-install OS and all
my progs from scratch. Has anyone out there experiance with chancing from a
Dawicontrol to Adaptec, or from any other SCSI-controller with the LSI-chip
53c895 to an Adapatec 2940 U2W?

Might have a been a problem ten years ago. I have never seen geometry change
between PCI SCSI adapters.

It stopped once capacities grew to a size that CHS rules didn't allow different geometries for the same capacity.

Those were available 10 years ago.
Early versions of Adaptecs 2940 and 3940 used 32 sector geometries.
Partitions on drives partitioned with newer bioses were not accepted
on the cards with older bioses.
