Hi there

I have gotten hold of a Python 04106-xxx DDS3 DAT tape drive, but I'm
having some troubles getting it to work. When I insert a tape, either a
regular audio DAT tape or a DDS3 tape, the drive loads it, spins the head
up, doing a little back and forth for 15-20 secs and then ejects the tape.
During it all both the green and yellow LED is lit.
One funny thing is that if I insert a cleaning tape it will stay in the
drive instead of being ejected after cleaning as I understand it should.

I have upgraded the firmware in the drive with the newest version 7600, but
it reacts the same way. All jumpers is set to default.

The symptons is the same whether the SCSI cable is plugged in or not.

Any ideas?

/Jesper

That would be the normal behaviour if the cleaning tape is at end-of-tape
(i.e., it's used up).
Maybe the drive just needs tape head cleaning badly, and you need to get
a fresh cleaning tape?
